list : christmas

Frye over-the-knee boots :: love the brown & purple

Christmas has snuck up on me a bit this year but I'm starting to get in the spirit. Planning my shopping and getting my own list together. I've been looking for some office appropriate (but not boring!) foot wear that will take my collection of dresses and skirts from lame to winter warm. Knee boots and warm cozy socks might just do the trick and these ones from Frye are not only well built and beautiful but they come in some great colors.
Butter London :: All Hail McQueen

I also came across Butter London nail polishes when I was at the Bay this week on an ill-fated Calvin Klein sale shop. Haven't decided on colors yet, but they have some great ones.

madebygirl :: live what you love

I've seen this print in plenty of blog photos and its been all over Apartment Therapy, but I love both the typography and message. MadeByGirl has it in lots of colors and its only $12.75.
Sometimes gifting at this time of year is hard, but I find if I stick to the principals of functional and/or beautiful I can cover most of the hard to shop for people on my list.

things from my week

my new Weck jars :: now full of coffee

It's been a busy few weeks. I've started a new job and not had much chance to do much out of the ordinary. But I did manage to stop by the new Crate & Barrel and pick up some Weck glass jars (jars! Weck!). I have a strange love for beautiful jars and was so excited to see the jars in the catalogue. I bought a few sizes to try out, once I figure out which are most useful I'll stock up on some more.

Queen St. west :: Dufflet Blondie bar

I took the opportunity Sunday to mosey around downtown in the last of the fall weather. Unfortunately, It'll take a little while to be able to shop for work clothes (but I'm excited to soon)! I did pick up so amazing Edison bulbs though, with plans to fashion an industrial chic lamp for them. I also finally stopped at Dufflet cafe for a treat.

I'm hoping that things settle down in the next little while and i can focus on a) a little fashion shopping to look fabulous all winter and b) get back into some crafty projects.

places: Sense Appeal

:: I'm infatuated with that typography menu

:: the science dork in me wants this badly

Sense Appeal has just been added to my Toronto "must go" list based on photos and review alone. I worked as a barista in university and took away from it a big love of well pulled espresso and extra-dry cappuccinos. Add to that the packaging design and I have to go visit.

As fall starts and winter inevitably dumps snow, I have to find reasons to get out and leave my house for things other then groceries, walking the dog and work. It's places like this that I seek out when hibernation gets boring. I'll let you know what I think post-visit.
